Stopping Smoking ·
Apart from the obvious health benefits there are also financial benefits to stopping. Someone who smokes 20 cigarettes a day at £4.50 a pack will over 10 years spend about £14,500.
However, stopping is not easy, especially if you are stressed or worried about your health or other aspects of your life. There are a number of products and supports to help you stop smoking if and when you feel ready to do so.
Your CD4 count is often higher when smoking; a CD4 drop when you stop smoking should be taken into account. Without this knowledge, people worry when they see their CD4 count go down after they have given up smoking.
“I’m really sick of my doctors avoiding a direct, full, informed discussion of why smoking increases my CD4 and the real costs and benefits of quitting. Pretending it is a simple issue just alienates me.”
