Men living with HIV

Do I have to contact my ex-partners? ·

Depending on what kind of sex you had with your former partner, you will be encouraged to contact them if you are diagnosed HIV positive. If you’re reluctant to tell them in person, staff at your HIV clinic can also contact your ‘exes’ on your behalf without giving away any of your personal details.

Should I or shouldn’t I?

  • Are you ready for them to know?
  • Was there any real risk of infection?
  • Can you trust them with knowledge of your HIV infection?
  • Do you want to have contact with them again?
