Men living with HIV

Your Doctor ·

One of your most important relationships can be with your doctor for your long term health and wellbeing. From the early days of AIDS onwards, studies found that people who had a good relationship with their doctors had better health.

So talk to your doctor. See if you feel comfortable with them, and if you don’t feel comfortable discussing your most personal details with the doctor (your sex life, your bowel habits or any strange aliments), then maybe you should change doctors, as you do have a choice. Remember, your doctor works for you.

Your first visit to the HIV clinic after your diagnosis is a good time to talk through any concerns and questions you may have and start to build a relationship with your doctor. Some examples are listed below.
