Men living with HIV

Travel Restrictions ·

Most countries do not place restrictions on people with HIV visiting but some place restrictions on the length of stay. Some, however, do have complete bans to entry.

Phone your local HIV support service or visit AIDSMAP to find out about any possible restrictions, or contact your local NHS travel clinic.

If a country you want to travel to has entry restrictions, then you will need to contact a HIV support agency for current guidelines for visiting that country. People with HIV have been arrested and deported back to the UK, so it is always advisable to seek accurate advice prior to travel.

Even if a country has no entry restrictions, remember that in most places outside the EU, you will probably have to pay for your healthcare. Make sure you have travel insurance, and check with the embassy of the country you are visiting.
