Men living with HIV

Will anyone want to have sex with me? ·

Many gay men with HIV have good sex and fall in love with other guys – HIV negative, HIV positive, or untested alike.

But HIV stigma and discrimination exist worldwide and sadly Scotland has its share of prejudice associated with HIV.

However, you may be rejected by potential or current sex partners because you have HIV and this can be a very hurtful experience. It’s important that you develop strategies to cope if this happens to you.

It’s important to consider when, if and how you disclose your HIV status to potential sex partners. You may have a legal duty to disclose your HIV status to them, especially if you don’t have safer sex – this is dealt with in more detail in HIV and the Law

“Sex was always complicated but enjoyable. After being diagnosed, it got a lot more complicated and a lot less enjoyable.” – Robert
